200 meters below the surface of the earth in an abandoned salt mine in Zipaquirá Colombia, is the Cathedral of Salt. Originally Built in the 1930’s by salt miners as a place for their prayers, it was enlarged in the in 1950s and again in 1996 to what is now a huge underground church complex dug out the salt that can hold over 8,000 people. It is spectacular. The journey down the old mining tunnels is lined with 14 stations of the cross and at the bottom you can get the worlds deepest cup of coffee at the Cafe Colombiano.
