There are 9,387 graves at the American Cemetery in Normandy including 4 women, 41 brothers and 307 other souls who could not be identified. All of the graves face homeward toward America. It was the saddest place I have ever been.
The cliffs of Etretat in Normandy are spectacular. It is a steep climb up to the top but well worth the effort . The town is beautiful, boats line the beach as peole lounge in the small cafes over looking the sea.
