The Zen of Sweat. Traveling Thailand with ExOfficio
The Zen of Sweat. Traveling Thailand with ExOfficio
I am a frequent traveler. I have favorite airports. I have power adapters for every country on the planet. I have a suitcase fetish. I always get an isle seat. I will not travel without duct tape. With all of the miles I have under my wings, no matter how I try, I always pack too much.
Last month I traveled to write about and photograph Thailand for Gonomad.com. I brought along a few items of clothing provided to me by the folks at Exofficio to test them out on the road and see if they would lighten my load and keep me looking sharp in the heat of Thailand. I knew I was going to sweat…..a lot. Here is what I found.
Men’s Give-N-Go® Brief
I was skeptical about traveling for two weeks with only two pair of underwear. The Men’s Give -Go Brief really worked and saved me the extra space of packing my usual 10 cotton ones. They are comfortable, and very light weight. At night, I simply washed them as I showered . Even if I had to hang them in the bathroom they dried fast, but will dry in under a half hour in the sun. These will stay in my suitcase ready for my next trip.
Men’s Trip’r™ Short-Sleeve Shirt
This is without a doubt my new favorite shirt. The Men’s Trip is made from a 80% Nylon/20% polyester blend. It is incredibly lightweight with a back yoke vent to let out heat. On any given hot day in Thailand you are going to go through many soaking sweat and dry cycles. This shirt is moisture wicking dries quickly, and has a UPF sun guard of 30 +. It looked great right of the suitcase and never needs ironing. After liberal dosing with curry sauce one night, I washed and dried it in under a half an hour and was back on the street without a hint of a stain.
Men’s GeoTrek’r™ Long-Sleeve Shirt
Yes, even in the steamy heat of Thailand you are going to want a long sleeve shirt for added mosquito and sun protection. The Men’s Geo Trek is 100% nylon, a little more durable than the Trip r blend, but still vented in the back shoulder, lightweight, moisture wicking, and quick drying. This will definitely stay in my travel wardrobe.

Great stuff. I too travel a lot (and share your suitcase fetish ha) and still using techniques such as stuffing shoes full of underwear but now I am going to try the men’s give n go brief. Any space saver is a life saver when travelling in my experience.
