Aging in Place Keeping Seniors Safe at Home
Elderly parents reach a time in life when the everyday things that they took for granted in their home become a potential hazard. Stairways and even the kitchen are now fraught with danger. Keeping seniors safe needs some creative thinking. Where will they go? How long before the Nursing home? Who should take care of them? How safe is safe? These questions loom large. Changing roles and new responsibilities are difficult challenges for siblings and the whole family. Along with a chair lift and installing grab bars everywhere, I found this simple answer to both safety and keeping the peace in isle 17 of home depot. Having two fantastic parents willing to go along with this photograph was key. My advice to families in this new stage of life is to remember to laugh together, it works wonders.
