Springfield Tornado
The Tornado that ripped through Springfield Mass yesterday left the survivors happy to still be alive, yet overwhelmed as to how to undo the damage done. As I walked through the streets today I was shocked at just how much was destroyed in so short a time. In this photo Enelida and Angel Reys of 31 Pine street court tried to bring order to chaos. As he cut a beam to support a house that seemed destined to fall, Enelida set about trying to clean up a mess that was simply too big to conquer. She said to me that her son and her cat were both unharmed and for that she is thankful.

thanks for sharing this. We own (&rent) a home in the south end of Springfield, but are living in GA, so, when the news broke about this tornado, it was kind of dream-like in a nightmarish way. Still is. Our tenants are okay, but nothing is the same. Photos and commentary like yours help to ground me.

Thanks for your insight. For me , on Wed and Thurs., was dealing with all of my beloved students and collegues. Who were in the path and did not see it coming. I had a very different take on this event as I have spent quite a bit of time in Tornado Alley, OK. Basically scoffed for even saying be careful out there…then again this union with Mother Nature which is just a part of me.
