Iron Bowl Alabama- Auburn: it’s all about the fans

Birmingham Alabama; The Alabama Auburn football game was quite a spectacle. Over 100,000 fans packed into the stadium. It was cold and loud and I loved every second of it. The Fans are really into football here in Birmingham, I commented to Max who was with me at the game, “if this was a Yankee-Red Sox game at Fenway park and the fans from each team were this close to each other, there would be trouble.” The rivalry was intense and for the most part well mannered. But, as a “Roll Tide”  friend  said to me after Auburn came from behind and won by one point, ” we are going to have to put up with them for a whole year and man are they going to be a bunch of A holes”  Pretty mild stuff compared to where I come from. So far so good, and everything I have heard about southern hospitality and politeness seems to be true. I’m really liking Alabama.
